Transmission maintenance tips
Catch it early.
Your transmission fluid tells a story. Check it, watch for slipping or harsh shifts, and call us before a small problem becomes a big one.
ATF color check
What color is your fluid?
Pull the dipstick (engine warm, in park, if your vehicle has one) and wipe it on a white paper towel. Match the color:
Bright red, clear
Fresh ATF is bright red and see-through. Keep up with regular service.
Darker red
Normal aging. A fluid service is a good idea before it breaks down further.
Brown
Oxidized fluid that can't protect like it should. Have it checked.
Dark brown / black, burnt smell
Often a sign of overheating and internal wear. Bring it in before it gets worse.
Pink and milky
Milky fluid can mean coolant is getting in. Don't keep driving it: call us.
